Inspection Time at Caskieberran
Staff, pupils, parents and partners of Caskieberran Primary School are delighted with the very positive report which they have received from their recent school inspection by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education.
The report highlights a number of key strengths including enterprising approaches to learning which develop children’s ambitions, skills and confidence. Hot on the heels of the school’s success in winning the “Enterprise and Employability Across Learning” category of the Scottish Education awards, the inspectors found that the children in the nursery and the school are confident in organising and running school events and proud to be sharing their achievements.
Councillor Douglas Chapman, Chair of the Education and Children’s Services Committee, said: “This has been a great year for Caskieberran and this report by HMIe just underlines the fabulous work which is going on at the school.
“Inspectors have praised the headteacher and principal teacher for providing clear direction to the school and pointed out how well regarded they are by parents and staff. I’d like to congratulate them, the staff and the pupils for achieving yet another success with this report.”
Partnerships with parents, Fife based companies Lomond Homes and the Tree of Knowledge as well as local community partners were commended by the inspectors as strong and innovative.
Headteacher, Alison Henderson said, “I am really pleased that this positive inspection report reflects our commitment to ensuring that all members of our school community can “be all they can be”. Our close business partnerships with Lomond Homes and Tree of Knowledge have truly enhanced the skills for learning, life and work of our pupils. “
During the inspection Lomond Group Director Alan Seath gave a presentation to primary 3 pupils on the topic of responsibility, one of the eight principles being taught as part of the Ollie the Enterprising Octopus initiative. Afterwards Alan was interviewed by HMIe providing a business perspective of the school and the enterprising ethos which permeates throughout the school.
Commenting on the outcomes of the inspection Lomond homes Managing director Grant Ritchie said: we are thrilled with the final report from HMIe. This is testament to all the hard work which everyone has put into the making the school such a success.
The inspectors recognised the vision and direction of the senior management team which ensured the effective development of leadership at all levels of the school and the innovative work undertaken in the creative use of ICT and design technology. They also commended the school on its sustained and successful drive to improve children’s attainment.
Mrs. Henderson concluded, “It is really satisfying to have our hard work validated in this report. As with everything, there are always areas for development but we are confident that our identified strong culture of continuous improvement will stand us in good stead for the future.
